Sabzevar Airport

Sabzevar Airport, as the largest airport under the General Directorate of Airports of Razavi Khorasan Province, is located in the west of this province and at a distance of 8 km, in the southwest of Sabzevar city, with an area of ​​about 328 hectares and a hot and dry climate. The initial plan of the airport was followed in 1366 and after locating and acquiring land during the years 1373 to 1380, the runway, terminal and tower buildings and airport facilities were built. The VOR/DME and NDB navigation aid systems were installed and launched by experts of the country's airports company during the years 1376 to 1378. This airport opened on 1382/11/18 and after the deployment of police units, the Corps and equipping the passenger terminal and all operational and technical parts with landing of the first passenger flight on 1383/07/02 officially began its activities in the field of air transportation of the country .

In the process of airport development, the implementation of installing the flight surface lighting system (LIGTHING) started from the beginning of May(Ordibehesht) 1388 and during a period of about 6 months and 20,000 hours of joint work carried out by the experts of the Technical Department of Tehran, the Technical Department of the General Directorate of Khorasan Razavi Airports and The technical staff of Sabzevar Airport was put into operation in February(Bahman) 1388 with the expenditure of a billion Rials, and with the installation of this system it was possible to fly at night at Sabzevar Airport .
